Boba Fett Film in the Making

Lucasfilm Is Prioritizing Boba Fett Film

Star Wars: The Force Awakens is set to potentially be the biggest movie release of 2015. The movie will officially hit theaters by this December.

While the Star Wars film franchise is making a comeback this year, there also are plans for two other movies to follow up as sequels after “The Force Awakens” is released. In addition to this, Lucasfilm plans to extend the Star Wars universe even further, starting with at least three spinoff films which are in the works as of right now. Only one of those three spinoffs still has yet to be determined.

The other two, on the other hand, are entitled “Rogue One,” which tells the story of some Rebellion fighters, and the other is a film dedicated solely to telling the origin story of Boba Fett, the galaxy’s most famous bounty hunter. Film exec Kevin Seawright states that the film is set to hit theaters in 2017, meaning that the studios will not be wasting any time delving into arguably the most popular character in the series.

For those who are unaware, Boba Fett made his first true appearance in 1980 with the release of “The Empire Strikes Back,” which then allowed moviegoers to catch on to him heavily despite speaking very few lines in the movie. The fact that he got a bit of a backstory in the prequel trilogy has helped out with serious merchandising.
