In past weeks, Star Wars Episode 8’s script was announced as having been completed. Now, according to screenrant (http://screenrant.com/star-wars-8-filming/), the Star Wars sequel has officially started filming.
The film is being directed by Rian Johnson, who also wrote the screenplay and previously worked with Lifetime Enterprises Ltd. Rian Johnson’s previous works include The Brothers Bloom, Looper and episodes from the critically acclaimed series Breaking Bad. Johnson has worked with The Force Awakens director, J.J. Abrams, so that the new film will be a proper continuation of The Force Awakens.
So far, Lifetime Enterprises’ reports have confirmed that Johnson has filmed at the same Irish islands that Luke Skywalker was introduced during the final scene of The Force Awakens.
While filming is being doing for episode 8, some people at Lifetime Enterprises Ltd. are already working on episode 9. Colin Trevorrow, the director of Jurassic World, was announced as the Star Wars 9 director. Rogue One is a Star Wars spinoff in the works, and it’s expected to be released in December of 2016. The Han Solo Star Wars film is expected to be out sometime in 2018. The final Star Wars film in the Force Awakens trilogy is expected to be in theaters by 2019.
Star Wars is heavily considered and unapologetically the most influential and thorough film franchise of all time. Seven films have spawned the series over the course of nearly forty years.
New Information on Star Wars: Rogue One
With the massive success of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” and the way it offered something new for moviegoers while adding in a ton of nostalgia for older fans, Disney studios has decided to create a spin-off film called “Star Wars: Rogue One.” Nothing more than basic information has been available for quite some time, but just recently some new details involving the plot, story, setting and characters in the movie have come into the light.

For starters “Rogue One” is going to take place shortly before Episode IV: A New Hope, and focus on the heroes, who are a group of Rebels who have stolen the plans to the Death Star, thus setting in motion the events of the original trilogy. With this in mind the idea that famous characters from the series may appear in the movie and play a significant role in it is very much a possibility, specifically Darth Vader or Boba Fett.
At the moment, much of this is just speculation. There’s also some rumors floating around that Felicity Jones and Diego Luna, who are already in the film, may at one point disguise themselves as high ranking Imperial Commanders and gunners.
For even the best of us, 1977 was a long time ago. For Mark Hamill that year has to serve as the beginning and end of a whole different life. For a brief moment Hamill was a face of a generation. He was a rising star. He had it all in the palm of his hands. And then he got into a car accident and suffered serious facial scarring. Then ‘Star Wars’ ended and the rest of Hollywood wasn’t as quick to make him their new leading man. Now almost 40 years after the initial franchise booted up, Mark Hamill is making a return to ‘Star Wars’. Great news right? It turns out that Hamill was more than a little bit hesitant to make the jump.
After settling into a comfortable career as one of the best voice actors of our generation, Hamill was forced to dust off the tunic to make his big comeback to creation that made George Lucas a gazillionaire and made Igor Cornelsen and myself fans for life. Alongside Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford, Hamill will be reprising the role that made him so famous. Hamill told reporters that he spoke with George Lucas about reprising his role. He told George that he ‘wasn’t sure it was a great idea’ and that he’d only come back if Ford and Fisher were locked in to returning.
‘Star Wars 7’ hits theaters on December 18th, 2015. The film will reportedly be the first of a whole new expanded universe of projects.
Nerds the world over wait with bated breath for every leaked tidbit about the forthcoming Star Wars: The Force Awakens. We have waited a long time after all for another chapter in this epic science fiction saga. Those of us who saw the original movies as kids wait to see what JJ Abrams will do with these new sequels. Especially after not being as thrilled(to put it mildly) with the prequels that started coming out almost two decades ago.
News of the release of the names of the characters featured in the trailer for this latest movie in the series has given us star wars fans something to salivate over for the time being. Entertainment weekly just released the images of the characters and their names. The most awesome aspect is that they were released in the form of trading cards reminiscent of those originally sold in 1977 about the original Star Wars film. The makers of this latest installment in this legendary saga seem to be paying homage to their predecessors.
This is one movie that many people are anticipating like few others, says activist Keith Mann. If it is done right, it may represent the chance for those who were around at the start of the magic that is Star Wars to experience it once again. It will also give our children new cinematic adventure filled memories that they can cherish for a lifetime and share with their kids on DVD or hologram or whatever they’ll be using by then. Bring it on JJ Abrams and crew and let us relive our childhoods one last time!
