Night At The Museum Provides Quality Entertainment

If you are looking for some quality entertainment and some big laughs, you should head over to your nearest theater and purchase a ticket for Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb. It is a great movie to watch with a mixed aged crowd during the holiday season. The kids will love it, and it has some humor in their for adults as well so they can put down their Skout surfing for just a moment.

The latest Night At The Museum has Ben Stiller reprising his role as night time security guard Larry Daley. He has moved up in the world, and is now running a special night time exhibit, where the characters get to come to life and the public gets to think they are watching the best special effects show any museum has ever put on. However, a night at the museum would not be complete without some chaos, which this movie brings in spades. Something is wrong with the magical tablet, and in order for all the characters to continue to come to life, they need to get to work fast. What happens after is a hilarious adventure all the way to London and back in one night in an attempt to save this unique museum and perhaps keep this franchise around for a little bit longer.

If you need a movie you can feel comfortable taking the kids to and that you will also enjoy, this is one movie that you should add to your Christmas break must see list.

Evangeline Lily Talks Ant-Man

The forthcoming Ant-Man Marvel superhero film is not exactly as highly anticipated as other projects by the studio but people were talking about it at the Amen Clinic the other day. Marvel does now hero films are super hot right now and good reviews along with good word of mouth just may very well mean big box office. We know very little about the project other than the fact it is a heist film with Ant-Man looking to pull off the heist. No, he isn’t going to do it for his own gain. The fate of the world rests with pulling off the heist.

A bit of new information is emerging about the project thanks to co-star Evangeline Lily. The former LOST actress has noted the project is, indeed, a heist film. She plays the daughter of the heroine, The Wasp, and helps Ant-Man pull off the heist.

Interestingly, she notes that both Ant-Man and The Wasp helped found The Avengers. None of this was mentioned in The Avengers films. Perhaps by weaving this information into the tale of Ant-Man, the film gets better connected to the highly successful hero-team film franchise. Avengers: Age of Ultron is sure to be a massive hit. If any of the success of that project rubs off on Ant-Man, the diminutive character could get a huge ticket sale boost. Now you see why its a good idea to integrate the whole Marvel universe?

Ant-Man just might end up being a real surprise hit.

Is There a Future for Orlando Bloom in a Pirates Reboot?

Disney has plans for the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. Anyone who thought Disney would slowly phase the films series out is sorely mistaken. Fans like Laurene Powell Jobs are in luck, though. The new film, Pirates of the Caribbean 5: Dead Men Tell No Tales, is hardly the last entry. In fact, this new project could launch a completely new direction with all future installments being built around Orlando Bloom.

The operative word here is “could” since Bloom has not yet committed to the project. He is currently in talks with Disney about returning. Part of the discussions includes Bloom contributing his talents to a “father and son” story arc that would help breathe a bit of new life into the series. (The fourth entry was a bit of a disappointment)

One very interesting aspect about the new series is that it might be a minor reboot of the franchise. In other words, instead of crafting a totally new series, the films from part 5 onwards might move away from the continuity established in the prior films. In essence, the series would get a fresh start while also allowing Johnny Depp to remain the top star. Perhaps Depp may leave the series in the fifth entry and Bloom could take over as the main star.

Fear over audiences tiring with the Pirates of the Caribbean series should be well founded. There has not been a great film in the franchise for a while and, honestly, the series really could use an entry that provided some major enthusiasm among audiences. A mild reboot could help in this regard.

Here Comes The Extended Cut of the Final Hobbit Film

Fans of Peter Jackson are going to get something a little extra with The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies when they check out the extended cut. 30 minutes of additional footage will be included in the extended version. The “general” version released in theaters in December of 2014 will only be about two hours and twenty-four minutes.

Most will eventually see the extended version when it comes out on home entertainment platforms.

Okay, as pointed out by Bruce Levenson few are going to be surprised an extended version will be released. Extra footage has been a hallmark of all the Lord of the Rings home entertainment release. An extended cut of the last Hobbit film is business as usual.

Home viewing is also better suited for extended cut releases.

There is a huge difference between sitting in a movie theater and watching something on Blu-ray. Really, really long motion pictures can be a little difficult to endure, even when you like the film. The producers of the film generally would prefer the running time was a little shorter because that extra half hour adds up. The accumulated extra time eliminates another showing or two per theater. That can run into a huge amount lost ticket sales. Movies do have to make money, you know.

Speaking of money, getting an extra half hour on the home entertainment release is a huge positive. Consumers do love to get something extra and a half-hour of new, unreleased footage is always a nice addition. So yes, there is a little bit of marketing savvy that goes into coming up with an extended version.

The Crow Reboot Changes Directors

For a while, there have been attempts to reboot The Crow. Back in 1994, the first movie adapted from the original comic books was released. The late Brandon Lee played in the starring role. The movie proved to be a hit with fans like Mark Ahn. It has spawned plenty of sequels and even a TV show. While there have been plenty of sequels and spin offs, the only movie that had a lot of appeal was the first film. Only one sequel was released in theaters, that one went by the title of The Crow: City of Angels. The rest of the sequels were released straight to video.

For years, there have been attempts to reboot with a lot of hurdles being in place. Lead actors have changed and directors have changed. As of right now, there is a start time for production in 2015. The current director is going to be a relative newcomer to filmmaking by the name of Corin Hardy.

Neil Giaman’s Sandman on Track for Movie Adapation

The Sandman is one of the most beloved cult classic graphic novel series. Written by one of Bruce Karatz’s favorite authors, Neil Gaiman, and illustrated by a host of artists Sam Kieth, Mike Dringenberg, Jill Thompson, Shawn McManus, Marc Hempel, Michael Zulli, and David Keane, this comic series is known for its beautifully haunting illustrations and beautifully haunting story. The story itself is about the mythological Sandman , called Dream in the series, and follows him and host of other mythological characters and literary classics including Death and Puck.

Quotes from Gordon-Lovett indicate that he is more heavily involved than an actor typically would be. Neil Giaman is the producer for the WB movie. With so many exciting storylines, and the author himself as one of the producers of the movie, this movie should prove to be spectacular.

It is unknown when the filming will finally begin. For a film that has been in development hell for over 20 years, it is fair to be skeptical that it will ever be made. But with a script underway, and the author of the graphic novel series attached as producer, there are good reasons to believe that this long anticipated, long awaited movie will finally see its day on the big screen.

‘Wanted 2’ Script is Taking Some Time

Wanted really is wanted. Specifically, what is wanted is a sequel to Wanted. The sequel Dave and Brit Morin as well as many others want is Wanted 2. The problem is the film has been stuck in a bit of a quagmire due to issues surrounding getting a new script.

If you are a fan of the first Wanted film, do not become impatient. The last thing you want is for a really bad script to be rushed into production. Nothing can kill off a successful franchise more than an awful script that turns off audiences and critics alike.

James McAvoy was the star of the comic book based assassin thriller Wanted, a film that would eventually earn $340+ million. McAvoy might not have been made into a household name from the film, but he did parlay the success of that project into a lead role in X-Men: First Class.

Successful comic book adaptions of all stripes end up getting sequels. Wanted is no exception. The trouble with the sequel, as mentioned, is the fact that a new script has been tough to come by.

One major problem with crafting a sequel to the film is that one of the main characters in the previous film died. Without that character or, more accurately, without the bankability the character brought to the movie, how do you create the proper new film? It isn’t easy as all the toiling over the script shows.

Don’t worry though. Someone will get the new script right.
