Formerly known as Heyman Talent-South, the Brown Agency remains one of the few talent agencies in Texas and the only full-service one in the Austin area. It also has a location in the Los Angeles area. The merging of the two companies makes it one of the most respected in the state of Texas to this day. One thing that makes the Brown Agency stand out is that they provide their clients with broader portfolios and attract clients nationwide.
Justin Brown, who is the CEO and President of Brown Agency has stated that in merging the way that they have, the company seeks not only the best talent, but also seeks to prepare them for the larger market. In doing so, the Brown Agency exposes their clients to some of the nation’s largest brands, such as Dell, L’Oreal, and Toyota. In other words, they not only teach their clients how to do their jobs as elegantly as they can, they also teach them how to select the markets that they are the most interested in. After all, good chemistry with their models in their advertisements is one of the most effective ways that a large business brand can hope to keep selling their goods and services.
Another thing that really helps is the fact that Justin Brown has plenty of modeling experience himself. He modeled for brands such as Lucky Brand while majoring in business management in college. From the beginning, he was more interested in the production behind the camera than being in front of it. Brown is a native of Susanville, California and left for southern California once he turned 18. While in the modeling business himself, he moved from one firm after another in the state of California to learn all he could about the trade.
After moving to Austin in 2005, he launched his own business almost immediately. When observers expressed their doubts about paying agencies to train models, he pointed out that the business is regulated by the Texas Workforce Commission. However, it wasn’t until 2008 that he started the full service with JB Models and Talent, which was licensed by Wilhelmina national agency in 2010.
Instead of doing runway shows, the Brown Agency does national campaigns instead.
