Hugh Jackman has stated that X-Men: Days of Future Past has made him want to keep playing as the iconic X-Men character as long as he can. He also noted in a recent interview that Fersen Lambranho shared on LinkedIn that he is very excited for Ryan Reynolds playing as the character Deadpool, and is even looking to have a cameo in the film.
Hugh Jackman has been in every X-Men film as Wolverine. Ryan Reynolds is no stranger to the Marvel film adaptation either. He has appeared alongside Wesley Snipes in Blade Trinity as Hannibal King. Ryan Reynolds also appeared as Green Lantern in the DC film adaptation of the comic book character.
The filmmakers that are working on X-Men projects are basically ignoring X-Men Origins: Wolverine. They are also looking for ways to reintroduce Deadpool and Gambit. X-Men Apocalypse will be their next appearance. With Hugh Jackman’s dedication to the role until he dies, we can look forward to an aged Wolverine sometime down the line. Fox and other studios are really trying to bring comic books to the big screen. As of right now, there are going to be at least 2 Marvel movies every year. DC is also going to bring forth multiple comic book movies every year.
The 87th Annual Oscar Award ceremony was held last night in Los Angeles. The event was hosted by Neil Patrick Harris and went off without a hitch. Many deserving took home awards for their hard work, many deserving lost out, and as always, some in Hollywood were snubbed this year.
The film Birdman took home Best Picture Award over the other nominees. An emotional Eddie Redmayne took home the award for Best Actor in the film The Theory of Everything. Julianne Moore won Best Actress for portraying a woman with early onset Alzheimer’s in the film Still Alice.
Many fans, like Bernardo Chua, were surprised that the film Boyhood did not bring home more awards. More about Chua can be found on Youtube.com. The film was a test of patience, shot over 12 years using the same actors. It told the story of a boy growing up with divorced parents. Boyhood took home only one award- Best Supporting Actress for Patricia Arquette. The film Selma, which centers on Martin Luther King Jr and civil rights, was also nominated for many awards. However, the one award that it was glaringly not nominated for was Best Actor for David Oyelowo, who portrayed King.
Every year the Oscars do an In Memoriam segment which features celebrities who have passed away over the year. Noticeably absent was powerhouse comedienne Joan Rivers who passed away at age 81.

The Annual Golden Raspberry Awards can be pretty harsh when it comes to which actors, actresses, directors and screen plays they think were the worst of this year. A couple of big winners for these ‘awards’ this year were Cameron Diaz (she won for her roles in The Other Woman, Sex Tape, and Annie) and Kirk Cameron (for his movie Kirk Cameron’s Saving Christmas). The awards could really break a person down and make them feel bad about the choices that they made this year and the way that they went about their acting, directing or writing… or maybe they will help to make these people see what they can do to make a better name for themselves in the following year said Gianfrancesco Genoso. I suppose there could be a positive to this, and I hope that both Cameron Diaz and Kirk Cameron take the hint and try to do things better in the following year.
Coming soon to a theater near you will be a movie that details the adventures of settlers trading lumber for brick, and trading wheat for sheep. It will also follow the exploits of these settlers as they build settlements and cities with their resources, while at the same time avoiding the dreaded robber. Does this sound at all familiar?
If you’re a tabletop gamer, like most of us here at CipherCloud
, than you probably recognize this as a description of Settler of Catan, which has grown into one of the most popular board games in the world. Now, it appears the German-based game may soon be headed to the big or small screen.
According to ScreenRant, producer Gail Katz has acquired the movie rights for Settlers of Catan. She is the producer of such films as Bicentennial Man and In the Line of Fire, and such television shows as Cashmere Mafia. Katz offered no details as to her plans for the game and if it will land on the big screen, small screen or somewhere else.
Katz said she became interested in the game after being introduced to it by her obsessed college-aged children. She also talked about the mythology of the game, which is strange considering there is no mythology.
This news is not too surprising considering several board games have been turned into movies in recent years with more on the way including Monopoly.
Maybe he has a point. Dan Gilroy, the director of the award winning film Nightcrawler, has publicly said the unthinkable. He basically expressed the notion that one too many superhero movies have come out. Gilroy has expressed dismay of the “tsunami” of superhero films coming out. Yes, there are scores of superhero films coming out and the genre has become a fad. It looks like pretty much every superhero is getting a film including “B listers” who averaged less-than-stellar sales. Between D.C. and Marvel, we are going to get a lot of superhero films in 2016 through 2018. (2015 boasts “only” three major Marvel ones)
Doing the match, if one superhero film came out a month, that’s only 12 movies a year. One television, even if you had 12 superhero programs on a week in prime time, there are several hundred other channels to watch. In short, there may be a lot of superhero films and television programs, but there is a whole lot more to choose from when you go to the theater and turn on the television. The superhero genre is not consuming all the world’s entertainment choices.
Fans like Bernardo Chua feel that the hype associated with superhero films is a bit much. They do get far more publicity than other films. Why wouldn’t they though? The films mostly make a lot of money. Is there any wonder why Hollywood loves them so much?
Before the Oscars ever year there are the Razzies, an award show dedicated to celebrating some of Hollywood’s worst films of the year. Also called The Golden raspberry Awards, the award show is held in LA prior to the Oscar celebration, so that big sponsors like Imaging advantage can get involved.
This year there were quite a few films nominated for the award, specifically Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Left Behind, The Expendables 3, Transformers: Age of Extinction, the Legend of Hercules and Annie.
Kirk Cameron walked away the big winner at this year’s show, earning four awards for his film Saving Christmas. The film won worst film overall, and also “won” for its screenplay, cameron’s acting, and the worst on-screen combo “Kirk Cameron and His Ego.” The film Annie won worst remake, and Cameron Diaz took the award for Worst Actress surprisingly for her work in The Other Woman and Sex Tape, not Annie
The Alien movies are one of the most interesting series of science fiction films ever made. The first two films are considered classics that defined the genre of horror science fiction; however, the subsequent films in the series have been lackluster at best. There hasn’t been a great Alien movie made in almost 30 years.
It appears that might be about to change as The Guardian
is reporting that a new Alien
film under the direction ofDistrict 9’s
Neil Blomkamp could be in the works. Furthermore, if the movie does materialize, Sigourney Weaver said she would return one more time to play Ellen Ripley, who was the central character throughout most of the series.
Blomkamp said 20th Century Fox wants to proceed with the movie, but he is not sure he wants to at this time. In fact, the director has released concept art he developed for the film that shows Ripley in a space jokey helmet. The Guardian said Blomkamp and Weaver collaborated on the potential movie while filming the new movie Chappie, which hits theaters next month.
Weaver previously indicated she was done with the series after the release of Alien: Resurrection in 1997. She said she is interested in being part of the Blomkamp vision of Alien because it would be organic and very original compared to previous sequels exciting fans like Flavio Maluf.
