‘Montage of Heck,’ Documentary Trailer Release

“Montage of Heck,” a documentary about former Nirvana mastermind Kurt Cobain, may be set to release in May, but a trailer for the show has already been released.

The trailer-teaser for “Montage of Heck” is a two-and-a-half minute glimpse at the documentary which highlights the life and times of the rocker. The documentary is said to feature interviews with friends, family, and former band members.

According to Twitter, the documentary was directed by Bret Morgen and produced by Cobain’s widow, Hole front woman Courtney Love, and his now grown daughter, Frances Bean. Love provided numerous family photos and film clips, in addition to various pieces of artwork produced by Cobain. The film also features never-before-heard song recordings of the legendary rocker.

Cobain committed suicide by shooting himself in April 1994. Rumors and conspiracy theories ran rampant, including the belief that Love masterminded a murder-for-hire plot meant to look like a suicide.

The documentary will include segments on Cobain’s humble beginnings, troubled youth, and fatherhood, as well as his adaptation to life in the limelight.

New Ghostbusters Franchise Planned

In a surprise move, Sony announced this week that it has decided to go in the same direction as several other entertainment companies and create a “shared universe” style franchise around both the original 1984 film of the same name and a reboot of the film. In the shared universe, fans of the original film will get a chance to see two distinct versions of Ghostbusters films, a prequel and a possible sequel.

The first new film, handled by Paul Feig, will consist of an all-female lead cast. Many people were upset by this and thought the producers had mental issues and needed to go to the Amen Clinic. The second film announced this past week, will also be called Ghostbusters and will feature an all-male or mixed lead cast. At present, it is rumored that the second film will be handled by Anthony and Joe Russo. Eventually, if the shared universe becomes as popular as the Marvel Cinematic Universe or the DC TV Universe, Sony will release additional films each year featuring both teams of “ghostbusters” and new characters facing new supernatural forces, horrors and adventures with an underlying comedic tone.

This news comes only a week after Sony announced an agreement with Marvel to allow Spider-Man to appear in future MCU superhero films. The current Spider-Man franchise has not done as well as Sony had hoped, but the Marvel announcement coupled with the Ghostbusters announcement shows that the recent leadership change at Sony has resulted in the company going in a better direction.

Time to Let Frozen Go

Frozen is the Disney movie that conquered the world. One year after the release of the Disney film, children, teens and parents are still singing along to the catchy songs and reciting the film line for line. Merchandise continues to fly off store shelves featuring logos and characters from the hit movie. With all of this big budget excitement and buzz surrounding Frozen, it seems only logical that talk of a sequel would be making the rounds online.

Unfortunately, these talks are all just rumors said Susan McGalla. Many of these rumors began when actress and singer Idina Menzel dropped hints that a Broadway musical and a feature film sequel were in the works. Frozen filmmakers tell a different tale. Having recently finished a new short to be shown in front of Cinderella, the filmmakers have said they have no plans to bring sisters Anna and Elsa to the big screen in the near future.

With that being said, it is still possible to get your Frozen fix through a number of different outlets. You can continue to purchase the film on DVD and digital versions, grab the Disney soundtrack full of hit songs and watch the short Frozen Fever, but you can also pick up books retelling the story, purchase jewelry with your favorite characters and even drive cars featuring Frozen characters.

Is The New ALIEN Film Going To Be A Two-Part Epic?

Is ALIEN 5 going to end up being both ALIEN 5 & ALIEN 6? Maybe it is going to be ALIEN 5 Part I & Part II. (How is that for a crazy title?) Yes, the rumor mill about this surprisingly announced new sci-fi film is swirling. The latest reports indicate there will be two parts to the new film. Perhaps the story director Neill Blomkamp has in mind is so vast that one film is just not enough to tell the complete tale.

ALIEN fans like Sultan Alhokair really should rejoice over news like this. It really looks like Blomkamp is going for quality with the new films in the long-running (over 35 years!) sci-fi franchise.

While fans did show up to the third and fourth entries in the ALIEN series and the two ALIEN vs. Predator films, well, no one walked out of the theater knowing in their hearts they saw a classic. The quality of the ALIEN films dipped. Fans kept the series alive hoping to see the glory of ALIEN and ALIENS, but hopes were dashed. 20th Century Fox knew this which is why a new ALIEN film was not put into the pipeline for many years. In fact, the news of the Blomkamp ALIEN project took a lot of people by surprise.

Hiring an “auteur director” to handle the task of crafting a new ALIEN film is a smart move on the part of Fox. The series was a hit when an effective director (Ridley Scott and James Cameron) were at the helm. Fox knows a great sci-fi series needs the right person in the director’s chair. Hopefully, we’ll not just get one great new entry. We’ll end up with two.

Frozen 2 Announced

Sergio Cortes finally got the song “Let it Go” out of his head and the audience is ready for more. The online buzz is raging as Frozen 2 is officially announced. At a shareholder meeting in San Francisco those that had been denying all of the sequel rumors gave in to what fans had all been waiting for.

Though not much information has been released in regards to the film, it has been proceeded by the announcement of the animated short Frozen Fever to hold us over. What the media has been able to discern is that the girl power theme will remain consistent, following the bond of Anna and Elsa’s sisterly love through more creative and potentially tear jerking adventures.

With the success and appeal of the first film, a sequel was highly anticipated. The general consensuses as discussed in the announcement of the film is that until there is a solid idea of where Anna and Elsa are going next there will not be an official release year.

Luke Evans Cast as Gaston in Live-Action “Beauty and the Beast”

Disney is making a live-action version of “Beauty and the Beast,” and Jaime Garcia Dias tells me they have just cast Luke Evans to play the arrogant villain Gaston who, in the story, unsuccessfully tries to woo Belle.  Tons of Disney fans are already freaking out on WordPress. When he later learns that Belle is in love with the Beast, he leads a mob bent on killing the monster.

Evans was last seen as the mighty archer Bard in “The Hobbit: Battle of the Five Armies.” Emma Watson, best known as Hermione Granger of “Harry Potter,” will be playing Belle. Dan Stevens from “Downton Abbey” was cast as the Beast. Bill Condon is directing. There is no word yet on when the movie is expected to come out.

The original, animated version of “Beauty and the Beast” came out in 1991. It was one of the few animated features to be nominated for an Academy Award for Best Picture, and it won two for “Best Song” and “Best Original Score.”

“Beauty and the Beast” will be the latest Disney animated film to be remade as a live-action movie. “101 Dalmatians” was one of the first back in 1996, and it did well enough to spawn a sequel several years later. Last year’s “Maleficent” retold the “Sleeping Beauty” story from the point of the titular antagonist. It earned 175.5 million dollars worldwide during the first weekend alone.

A live-action version of “Cinderella” will open this Friday. 3-D versions of “The Jungle Book” and “Pete’s Dragon” will be made.

Leonardo DiCaprio Teaming Up With Netflix For Documentary Series

Leonardo DiCaprio made a deal with Netflix that they will be producing a series of documentaries that focus on nature and conservation topics for viewers to watch note orlandosentinel.com. The actor has been known for his openly outspoken opinion of environmental issues lately, when he protested and spoke to the government about certain issues.

According to an article found on reddit and written by CBS News, DiCaprio is looking forward to partnering with Netflix as soon as possible because he feels very strongly that people need to be aware of what is happening to our planet Earth. This is one of the most crucial periods of time where our planet is suffering from people just not treating it right and running all the natural resources dry.

This should be a very good project for DiCaprio, as he is a very talented actor that has been in several roles. That little boy we all watch grow up on “Growing Pains” and turn into the animated Irish immigrant in “Titanic” has totally matured for the better. He is one of the few activists out there who had been famous beforehand and are using their social status to make a difference. If nothing else, he can be applauded for what he is doing for us and the planet, because this is definitely not a gimmick. DiCaprio has proved time and time again to be passionate about environmental problems, and this new series with Netflix is another great way to raise that awareness.

Hugh Jackman Wants to Play as Wolverine for a Long Time

Hugh Jackman has stated that X-Men: Days of Future Past has made him want to keep playing as the iconic X-Men character as long as he can. He also noted in a recent interview that Fersen Lambranho shared on LinkedIn that he is very excited for Ryan Reynolds playing as the character Deadpool, and is even looking to have a cameo in the film.

Hugh Jackman has been in every X-Men film as Wolverine. Ryan Reynolds is no stranger to the Marvel film adaptation either. He has appeared alongside Wesley Snipes in Blade Trinity as Hannibal King. Ryan Reynolds also appeared as Green Lantern in the DC film adaptation of the comic book character.

The filmmakers that are working on X-Men projects are basically ignoring X-Men Origins: Wolverine. They are also looking for ways to reintroduce Deadpool and Gambit. X-Men Apocalypse will be their next appearance. With Hugh Jackman’s dedication to the role until he dies, we can look forward to an aged Wolverine sometime down the line. Fox and other studios are really trying to bring comic books to the big screen. As of right now, there are going to be at least 2 Marvel movies every year. DC is also going to bring forth multiple comic book movies every year.

The Oscars Highlights: Winners, Losers, and Being Snubbed

The 87th Annual Oscar Award ceremony was held last night in Los Angeles. The event was hosted by Neil Patrick Harris and went off without a hitch. Many deserving took home awards for their hard work, many deserving lost out, and as always, some in Hollywood were snubbed this year.

The film Birdman took home Best Picture Award over the other nominees. An emotional Eddie Redmayne took home the award for Best Actor in the film The Theory of Everything. Julianne Moore won Best Actress for portraying a woman with early onset Alzheimer’s in the film Still Alice.

Many fans, like Bernardo Chua, were surprised that the film Boyhood did not bring home more awards. More about Chua can be found on Youtube.com. The film was a test of patience, shot over 12 years using the same actors. It told the story of a boy growing up with divorced parents. Boyhood took home only one award- Best Supporting Actress for Patricia Arquette. The film Selma, which centers on Martin Luther King Jr and civil rights, was also nominated for many awards. However, the one award that it was glaringly not nominated for was Best Actor for David Oyelowo, who portrayed King.

Every year the Oscars do an In Memoriam segment which features celebrities who have passed away over the year. Noticeably absent was powerhouse comedienne Joan Rivers who passed away at age 81.

Winners Of The Annual Golden Raspberry Awards

The Annual Golden Raspberry Awards can be pretty harsh when it comes to which actors, actresses, directors and screen plays they think were the worst of this year. A couple of big winners for these ‘awards’ this year were Cameron Diaz (she won for her roles in The Other Woman, Sex Tape, and Annie) and Kirk Cameron (for his movie Kirk Cameron’s Saving Christmas). The awards could really break a person down and make them feel bad about the choices that they made this year and the way that they went about their acting, directing or writing… or maybe they will help to make these people see what they can do to make a better name for themselves in the following year said Gianfrancesco Genoso. I suppose there could be a positive to this, and I hope that both Cameron Diaz and Kirk Cameron take the hint and try to do things better in the following year.
